FESBC Project
Thanks to funding from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FESBC) the FNFN/NRRM Community Forest LP was able to create a wildfire risk reduction area close to the town of Fort Nelson in Winter of 2023-2024.
The goal of this project is to create a shaded fuel break and reduce the amount of conifer stems within the project area. Aspen and small diameter spruce trees were left in place to provide a natural fuel break in the event of a wildfire in close proximity to the town of Fort Nelson. Wood cut from this project was utilized by local sawmills as well.
